STMA Academy–Reading boxing coach Tommy ‘Boom Boom’ Johnson is getting back into the ring for his first fight in 20 years.

The forty-nine-and-a-half-year-old is sick of seeing the youngsters have all the fun and is chomping at the bit for his own tear-up.

According to Tommy, age is just a number. And he’s ready to prove the old ones are the best ones at Swindon’s Meca venue on February 24th.

Tommy said: “I’m old, but I’m not done yet.

“I’m ready to do the club proud and know I’m going to be well supported by the team here.”

Tommy is fighting at 74kgs super middleweight, and has already stripped 5kg off his stocky frame through vigorous training and sparring sessions.

He said: “I’m nervous, but fear drives me.”

Also fighting on the 24th is STMA’s Cameron Pridham. The lively 19-year-old has a 5-0 win record including two stoppages and three unanimous decisions.

Cameron will attempt to claim a prizefighter title in Swindon, which could lead to two fights in one night.

He said: “I honestly can’t wait.”

++ Limited tickets are still available for the Tank Promotions white collar event. Speak to Tommy or Cameron if you’d like to attend.
