The energy at STMA Academy Reading was absolutely electric last Saturday. We had
the immense honour of hosting one of the world’s elite strikers, Petchpanomrung
Kiatmuu9, for an exclusive, sold-out training seminar. Known globally as “The Professor,”
Petchpanomrung brought the authentic flavour, discipline, and elite tactics of Thai Muay
Thai straight to our mats in Reading. For anyone lucky enough to secure a ticket, it was
a masterclass they will never forget.

Learning from a Living Legend

It is not every day that you get to share the mat with a fighter of Petchpanomrung’s
calibre. Hailing from the legendary Kiatmuu9 camp in Thailand, he is a true pound-for-pound
great in the combat sports world. His resume speaks entirely for itself:

• 9x GLORY Kickboxing Featherweight World Champion
• Former RISE World Champion
• Veteran of over 150+ professional Muay Thai fights

Petchpanomrung is revered in the combat sports community as a master of devastating
left kicks, elite timing, flawless ring IQ, and advanced southpaw tactics. Having him walk
through our doors at STMA Academy was a monumental occasion for our coaching
staff and students alike.

Breaking Down “The Professor’s” Blueprint
What makes “The Professor” so special is his ability to make the highly complex look
effortless. During the technical portion of the seminar, he focused heavily on simple but
highly effective techniques and combinations. Rather than showing flashy, impractical
moves, Petchpanomrung broke down the foundational systems that have kept him at
the top of the world rankings for years.
Our students were treated to a deep dive into several core areas of his game:

• Devastating Left Kick Setups: Learning how he hides and lands his signature
weapon against world-class opposition.
• Teeps & Distance Control: Mastering the use of the front kick to dictate the pace
of a fight and keep aggressive opponents at bay.
• Sharp Counters: Timeless defensive manoeuvres that transition instantly into
heavy offensive counters.
• Long Guard & Kickboxing Range Management: Adapting traditional Muay Thai
shells to control the distance under elite kickboxing rulesets.

Seeing these systems broken down step-by-step gave everyone on the mat, from our
beginners to our active fighters, a completely new perspective on range, timing, and
southpaw strategy.

 

10 Rounds of Sparring and Community Spirit

After breaking a sweat drilling the technical nuances, the seminar shifted into an
incredibly exciting live phase. Petchpanomrung generously shared the ring for 10
rounds of fun, controlled sparring with various students. Watching our members test
their defence against a 9-time world champion was a massive highlight. He moved with
effortless grace, offering playful taps, smiles, and real-time adjustments that left our
students inspired.

To wrap up an incredible afternoon, “The Professor” sat down with the academy for an
intimate Q&A session. He shared insights into his training routine at Kiatmuu9, his
mindset before stepping into the GLORY ring, and what it takes to stay at the top of the
fight game.

The day concluded with a photo opportunity and autograph session. Petchpanomrung
stayed until every single student got a picture, signed gloves, and shared a laugh. He
proved to be just as humble and gracious outside the ring as he is dominant inside it.

Adrian for visiting STMA Academy Reading. Bringing world-class martial arts to our
